From Peranakan to Jakarta

Hainan Mertua is a brand with Hainanese chicken rice as their hero product. The branding of Hainan Mertua is very distinct with green brand color and Chinese traditional graphic style. We transform an old house in Jakarta to be the house of Hainan Mertua. Elevating the experience of the food by the unique homey space as if we come to a warm family dinner.

We featured the unique design on the layered ceiling. The unique ceiling brings more dynamic to the space over the monotonous materiality around the space. Thanks to the existing structure with the courtyard, we took advantage on the inner courtyard to let in as much natural light as possible into the space.
